You’re now ready to move on to step two!īefore you begin make sure your web browser has a good ad blocker (we use and recommend uBlock Origin). Once you’ve picked a torrent client, just download and install it like any other program. We don’t really recommend uTorrent (despite its popularity) because it has intrusive ads that can also be used to track you. We use qBittorrent and/or Torch, though we’ve heard good things about Deluge. You can visit your torrent website and download anything you want right in your browser. It’s a good option if you don’t want to use a completely separate program just for torrents. Torch is based on Chrome so it’s generally a good web browser as well. There’s also a web browser called Torch which features a built-in torrent client. The most popular free torrent clients are qBittorrent, Deluge, BitTorrent, and uTorrent. Though there are some paid options, we won’t be talking about them here. This is similar to how you use Microsoft Word to open *.docx files or Adobe Acrobat to open *.pdf files. This tutorial is written for Windows users, though it can easily be adapted for Mac.Ī torrent client is a program/app on your computer that can open *.torrent files and magnet links (more on those in Step 2). A VPN isn’t required though, and we pirated content for several years without facing any penalties before we started using one.
